Two groups of children for choral contest

TIRUCHI: Rotary Club of Tiruchi will field two groups of children, one in 7 to 12 years and another in 13 to 17 years, for the children's choral contest for the Akashvani Award, instituted by the All India Radio, New Delhi.

It will conduct an audition test for selection of groups for the contest.

The test will be conducted on Sunday at Hotel Savena near the Central Bus stand here.

A maximum of 20 children can participate in each group. Each group should sing two songs, one in Tamil and another in Hindi. No film song will be entertained.

In a press release issued here on Saturday, former president of the club, R. Panchanadhan, said each participant should bring a passport size photograph and remit a registration fee of Rs.50, which is refundable if not selected.

Those selected will participate in the divisional level contest to be conducted by the AIR, Tiruchi.

The winners will take part in the national level contest.
