Temporary employees of KSOU stage protest

Staff Correspondent

DHARNA: Temporary workers of KSOU staging a protest demanding regularisation of their services on Saturday in Mysore.

MYSORE: Temporary employees of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) on Saturday staged a protest in front of the university office at Manasagangotri demanding implementation of graded pay scales and regularisation of their services.

The employees demanded implementation of the resolution passed in the 82nd meeting of the Board of Management of the KSOU. They said that though a decision was taken at the meeting to implement graded pay scales for temporary employees, it has not been implemented so far.

They alleged that the strike by employees during October had been withdrawn following promises made by the KSOU officials, including the Registrar. They alleged that the orders that have been passed illegally without the approval of the State Government should be withdrawn and action should be initiated against those who have issued such orders. They have threatened to intensify their struggle by boycotting office work. The protestors said the KSOU's Board of Management will be held responsible. Sources in KSOU told The Hindu that a high-level meeting has been convened by the Secretary for Higher Education in Bangalore on November 8 and all these issues are likely to be sorted out in the meeting.
