Campaign to save native cow breeds

MANGALORE: The Statewide "goyatra" (a campaign and awareness programme to save native breeds of cows) of Ramachandrapura Mutt, Hosnagar, which will be flagged off in Bangalore on Sunday will come to Dakshina Kannada on November 22.

A local committee formed to organise the programme in the city held a meeting here on Saturday.

The meeting decided to organise a two-day programme at Nehru Maidan here on November 23 and 24. Karnataka Bank chairman and chief executive officer Ananthakrishna who spoke at the meeting said that "Kamadhenu" and "Kalpataru" are the most useful wealth for the people. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, co-convener of the committee, said that Visvesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, Udupi; Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji of Ramachandrapura Mutt; and D. Veerendra Heggade, dharmadhikari, Shree Kshetra Dharmasthala, will speak at the programme.
