UDUPI: Superintendent of Police S. Murugan said on Saturday that the police have stepped up combing operations in the forests of the Western Ghats in Udupi district after naxalites blew up a forest check-post at Kerekatte near Sringeri in Chikamagalur district on Saturday. Mr. Murugan told The Hindu that the Kollur, Shankarnarayana, Hebri and Karkala Rural Police Stationshave been put on a high alert. The police has taken precautionary measures. Vehicles are being checked .
