National youth camp

NEW DELHI: The National Youth Project will organise a national youth camp in Good Samaritan School at Jasola Vihar in South Delhi between November 8 and 15.

About 2,000 youths from different States are expected to participate in the camp that would be inaugurated by the Union Minister for Human Resources Development, Arjun Singh.

Activities like work project, language learning, discussions on current topics, skill sessions, music, singing, games and cultural activities will be conducted at the camp.

Peace conference

NEW DELHI: A two-day national conference on "Global Peace Through Universal Responsibility" will be inaugurated at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra here on Sunday.

The focus of the conference will be on the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, the Dalai Lama and other leading exponents of peace.

Leading scholars who have made major contributions in the field of philosophy, religion, diplomacy, culture, history, conflict resolution, peace and social justice would participate in the conference, according to the Seventieth Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee for the Dalai Lama.

Music can ease stress

NEW DELHI: Quoting a new study, Delhi Medical Association president K. K. Aggarwal on Saturday said that listening to music that has a slow or meditative tempo has a relaxing effect on the mind, slowing the breathing and heart rate. Listening to fast music with a more upbeat tempo has the opposite effect by speeding up the respiration and heart rate.

Speaking at a function organised by the Delhi Medical Association,

He said music could ease stress, improve athletic performance and improve movement in neurologically impaired patients with a stroke or Parkinson's disease, and even boost milk yield by cattle.
