Around the City

Routes renamed

The APSRTC Hyderabad City region has changed some route numbers for easy identification following representations by commuters. The new numbers will come into effect from Monday.

The new route number of Koti-Patencheru via Ashoknagar is 218 (existing No. 225-A), Charminar-Patancheru via Ashoknagar 218 C (225 C/A) and Secunderabad-Patancheru via Ashoknagar 219 (226 A).

Prizes distributed

The prize distribution ceremony for the Annual Children's Painting Competition for school children organised by B.M. Birla Science Centre was held on Sunday at B.M. Birla Planetarium. About 300 children participated in the competition held in the city on Saturday, which were judged by artist Surya Prakash

Workshop

Hyderabad Rose Society in association with the city-based Agri-Horticultural Society is conducting a three-day workshop on rose cultivation. The Commissioner of Horticulture and President of Agri-Horticultural Society, Anil Punetha inaugurated the workshop on Saturday.

Dog championship

The Hyderbad Canine Club is conducting-HyCan '05, National Dog Championship Shows on November 20 at People's Plaza. Nearly 300 dogs of 30 breeds from all over the country are expected to participate. The show is being held under the Canine Club of India show regulations and licensed as per the International and Asians Kennel Union, according to a release. Safety week

The State Central Power Distribution Company is observing Electrical Safety Week from November 7 to 14. Several training programmes are being organised for engineers, staff, consumers and general public about safety consciousness to bring the rate of electrical accidents to zero. An appeal has been made to the public not to construct houses, buildings underneath the electrical lines and educate children not to touch and play near electrical lines.

In case of emergencies and defects in transformers, the public should notify 1912.
