HASSAN: A police team from Bangalore visited Javagal town in Hassan district on Sunday to question a man employed in a lodge in the Majestic area of the State capital. They wanted information from him in identifying three persons who stayed in that lodge for a day and checked out suspiciously. A senior police officer, who spoke to The Hindu, said that the police team enquired from the man about the features of three persons as their "brief" stay had raised suspicion, that they could be the Delhi blast suspects for whom a nation-wide search is on. The team's visit is part of the efforts of the Bangalore police to ascertain whether Delhi blast suspects took shelter in the Bangalore lodge soon after the incident. The police came here as the lodge employee had come to Javagal town for the festival. The police officer also disclosed that following an "emergency alert" issued by Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh, the security at Sharvanabelagola, the Jain pilgrim centre, Hemavathy Reservoir, tourist centres, including, Belur and Halebeed had been strengthened. Special attention had been given to Shravanabelagola, as people from various parts of the country are visiting the town in view of the Mahamastakabhisheka to be held in February next. Security has been tightened with the deployment of more number of guards. The police officers were collecting details of workers involved in construction works at Shravanabelagola.
