Madurai: It was a lesson for those who visited Uzhavar Sandhai (farmers' shandy) on V.R. Rathinasamy Nadar Road. The lesson was `never underestimate anybody's knowledge on current affairs.' It was heavy crowd at one particular bay where a man was seen bargaining with a village woman selling onions. He wanted the onion at a price lower than what she quoted. After spending more than five minutes, the man had to look for another seller, as she did not relent. His passing remarks while returning never failed to catch the ears of that woman. He had said that the price was exorbitant at her shop whereas it was far less in other places. She immediately sprung out of her bay to say that in view of low production rate, onions were being imported from foreign countries and the price was more than what she had offered. Quoting various sources and prices she went on and on. That man was stunned to have provoked that woman and had no other go but to buy onions from her.
