A select couplet of Tirukkural is on display on a five-foot giant plasma screen inRashtrapathi Bhavan, which will be changed on alternative days, said Tirukkural scholar and the general secretary of Kanyakumari historical and cultural research centre, Padmanabhan, who recently returned after a visit to Rashtrapathi Bhavan. Speaking to the presspersons here on Monday he said that a select couplet with explanatory notes - is being displayed in Tamil, Hindi and English in a room where a `panchaloka' statue of Tiruvalluvar, weighing 133 kg, would be installed soon. The statue was presented to the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on behalf of Kanyakumari historical and cultural research centre, during his earlier visit in 2004. Moreover, Dr. Padmanabhan said that the President was attending to hisduties, with a lap-top, seated in a thatched hut at the renown Moghul gardens, keeping in mind the austere simplicity advocated by the great poet, Tiruvalluvar.
