Chhattisgarh: Three persons, including two women and a child, were killed and 27 were injured when a mini-bus rammed into a tree at Mumbai Howrah National Highway, about nine km from here, police said today.

The passengers, hailing from Mohara village, were heading to Medha village to participate in a `Chhat' programme last evening when the shock-absorber of the mini-bus got damaged and the vehicle lost balance.

Kaniyha Nishad (5) and Shyamkunwar Bai (55) were killed on the spot. Bisahin Nishad (55) died while undergoing treatment at hospital.

Twenty-three of the injured were admitted to district hospital.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh condoled the deaths and directed the district administration to provide all assistance to the affected families. -- UNI
