Lucknow: In yet another controversy, Uttar Pradesh Urban Development Minister Mohd Azam Khan has crossed sword with a Rampur Congress MLA over the latter apprehending threat on his life from the minister. In a three-page letter to Governor T.V. Rajeswar, Mr Khan recently had urged him for a probe into the lifestyle of the said Congress MLA to unearth the truth. The MLA from Swar Tanda constituency, Nawab Kazim Ali Khan, had complained to the Governor that he might be killed either by stoning or acid attack orchestrated by Mr Khan. Lamenting the development, the minister said a report by the Rampur administration had already been sent to the Raj Bhawan after a strong letter was sent to the state government. ``The Intelligence Bureau and probe agencies concerned have already scrutinised my speech, in which the Congress MLA claims I had threatened him," he said. Describing his discussion with Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav over the issue, Mr Khan said if the Governor wanted then the audio cassette of the speech could also be made available to him. There is an old rivalry between the Nawabs of Rampur and Mr Khan, with both charging each other with several allegations. The minister also raked up controversial Maulana Mohammad Ali Jahaur University matter saying there was no reason in blocking approvalof the varsity meant for the uplift of minorities. -- UNI
