Jackie Shroff is rediscovering himself. And proving once more that one can balance art and the so-called commercial cinema. No longer just a "Hero", he has also donned the greasepaint as an evil zamindar for Rituparno Ghosh in the recently released "Antar Mahal". Says Jackie, "I learnt Bengali for this film and I am happy I got to shoot in Kolkata which would not have been possible otherwise." Jackie is being modest. He has just been seen as a doctor in Priyadarshan's "Kyon Ki". Earlier Priyadarshan and Jackie have worked together in "Gardish" and "Hulchul". On his take on the kind of roles he desires for himself, Jackie avers, "I would like to work in films which have meaningful roles for aging men and they are not required to be mere props of the hero. My inspiration is Dev Anand."
