HYDERABAD: Even as the four defiant Telangana Rashtra Samiti MLAs from Warangal continued to adopt a tough posture and refused to yield to pleas from party leaders, Union Minister of State for Rural Development, A. Narendra, is likely to visit Warangal on Wednesday to find a way to end the crisis. On Tuesday, former Minister, G. Vijayarama Rao made yet another attempt on behalf of party leaders to establish contact with the disgruntled MLAs -- Mandadi Satyanarayana Reddy, D. Srinivasa Rao, K. Laxma Reddy and Sara Rani -- but failed.
Target KCR
The leaders continued to be critical of the style of functioning of party chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, when two MLAs -- T. Padma Rao and E. Rajender -- went all the way to Warangal on Monday to mollify them. However, party sources made it clear that it was not in a hurry to initiate disciplinary action, despite the dissidents' defiant mood. "Our leaders personally urged them to come to the negotiating table so that all issues could be discussed," they said. "The revolt by the four leaders is not at all a crisis in the party. The issue will be resolved in two-three days," Mr. Rao is believed to have told the party leaders. "Such controversies are not new to the TRS and we are closely watching the situation, " Mr. Rao has been quoted as saying. The Union Minister is believed to have pointed out that the Telangana movement would not be weakened just because the Congress tried to engineer a split in the party.
Joint press meet
Meanwhile, Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao and Mr. Narendra at a joint press conference on Tuesday said the party would stage "rasta roko" programmes at divisional headquarters in Telangana on November 11 to protest the Government's decision not to give free power to those cultivating paddy in Rabi. The farmers in Telangana would be the worst affected if the Government implemented the decision, Mr. Rao added.
