Voice over Internet made simple
|
`Voice Snap' is a software designed for the non-computer savvy

Bridging the digital divide between the rural and the urban masses may be the ambitious slogan of the Department of Telecommunication. But, some small software companies are innovating ways to bridge the last mile, making life easier for the common man.
A Chennai-based software company, Voice Snap, has unveiled a simple-to-use software that allows even the non-computer savvy to use computers to send and receive unlimited voice messages over the Internet.
VS2 has been specifically designed keeping in mind the elderly and non-computer literate, who want to keep in touch with their wards abroad, says its chief architect Ganesh Padmanabhan, a Physics graduate from Loyola College. Though voice over Internet is not new, it is the asynchronous method (one need not necessarily be online) that sets VS2 apart, adds its co-founder, M.K. Jayakumar, an M.E. and M.S. from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. So even with a poor dial-up connection, VS2 can deliver voice with clarity.
The software is available as free download at www.voicesnap.com
Using it, one can send and receive unlimited voice messages worldwide for Rs. 100 a month, says marketing head Kumar Natarajan. Voice Snap can be tried out for 21 days free!
