Rain hits MTC earnings too

Chennai:
Not only did commuters suffer when there was rain in the city on the pre-Deepavali days. The downpour washed away with it the extra revenue expected by MTC. The reason: "since it rained people preferred not to stir out of their homes." For its part, the corporation extended some of its services hoping that there would be enough patronage, particularly by those who would do festival shopping. The corporation expected a daily average revenue of Rs. 1.25 crores during the period. Alas, it ranged between Rs. 88 lakhs and 95 lakhs only, say insiders.
