Seven years' RI for sexual assault

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court has sentenced a youth to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, holding him guilty of sexually assaulting a minor for a fortnight under illegal confinement.

The Additional Sessions Judge S.C. Malik rejected the plea of the convict for a lenient punishment.

Counsel for the convict submitted that his client Nazim had to take care of his parents, his pregnant wife and nine brothers and sisters but the Judge rejected it.

The accused, who was in love with the prosecutrix, had promised to marry her, the prosecution said.

On January 11 this year, the accused had lured away the victim to a flat at Dilshad Garden in East Delhi, forcibly confined her in a room and sexually assaulted her for a fortnight, the chargesheet stated.

Three security guards held

NEW DELHI: Three private security guards have been arrested by the West Delhi police for allegedly stealing bundles of clothes from a factory where they were deployed for security.

According to the police, bundles of clothes worth Rs. 19 lakhs were found stolen from a factory in Kirti Nagar on November 6.

Woman alleges criminal assault

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman on Tuesday alleged that she was criminally assaulted by a taxi-driver at Malviya Nagar after being abducted from somewhere in South Delhi a couple of days ago. The woman alleged that the driver assaulted her throughout night in his vehicle parked near Triveni police post in the Malviya Nagar area. The police are verifying her statement, following which they would decide further course of action.

Four arrested

NEW DELHI: Four persons allegedly involved in auto-lifting have been arrested by the East Delhi police.

According to the police, the accused -- Suresh Chaudhary, Rakesh Yadav, Suresh Kandpal and Kishan Verma -- were arrested at Mandawali in East Delhi on November 5.

The police recovered two stolen motorcycles from the accused. The motorcycles had been stolen from Shakarpur in East Delhi and Chanakyapuri in New Delhi.
