Coimbatore: The Life Insurance Corporation Agents Association of India (LICAOI) has urged Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram to create a welfare fund for the benefit of over 12 lakh LIC agents across the country. In a release here, president of the Association K. Venkatachalam (also the All India Executive Committee Member of the Association) and secretary G. Socrates have pointed out that several hundred crores of surplus funds lying idle with the LIC could be used for this corpus fund. The office-bearers handed over the memorandum to Mr. Chidambaram when he visited Pollachi recently.
