Students protest proposed admission policy

Staff Correspondent

MYSORE: Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Classes students of the University of Mysore on Wednesday boycotted classes and staged a protest in front of Crawford Hall against the proposed admission policy to be implemented for postgraduate courses. They marched to Crawford Hall seeking withdrawal of the proposed policy. They said the proposed policy will affect the number of seats available to students from these communities. Hence, many students will be unable to pursue higher studies.

Tension prevailed for a while when Prof. Prasad went to hear the grievances of the students. Trying to persuade them, he said it is a decision of the Government. He promised that he will take up the matter with the authorities concerned.
