Murali thanks observer, officials

Conduct of election exemplary, he says Observer has sent his report to the State Government on the election of new office-bearers

CHENNAI: K.P. Sivasubramaniam, former judge of the Madras High Court who was asked to oversee the elections to the Music Academy, has sent in his report to the State Government on the election of new office-bearers and committee members to the Academy. The newly-elected president of the Music Academy, N. Murali, on Tuesday thanked the observer appointed by the Madras High Court, election officials and the city police for the exemplary conduct of the elections.

"On behalf of the newly elected office-bearers and Committee members, I would like to convey our deep appreciation to the Observer appointed by the Madras High Court, Hon'ble Justice K.P. Sivasubramaniam, for the exemplary manner in which he directed the whole process of elections. Our thanks are due to V. Mani, election officer in-charge, Deputy Inspector-General of Registration and his officials for the smooth and efficient conduct of the elections. In this whole process, mention must be made of the tireless efforts of the independent lawyers acting as representatives of the Observer — N. Chandrasekharan, K. Elango, V. Srikanth, M. Kemparaj, S. Rajkumar, Mahalakshmi and Shanmughapriya.

"I would like to convey our deep appreciation of the City police for efficiently managing the traffic and assisting the Academy in the smooth conduct of the whole process on a day of incessant rain.

"In this connection, special mention needs to be made of R. Nataraj, Commissioner of Police, Greater Chennai; Kaliamurthy, Deputy Commissioner, Mylapore; Pughzhendhi, Assistant Commissioner, Law and Order; and Paranthaman, Inspector of Police, Royapettah."
