Jaswant says UPA is twisting foreign policy

"Manmohan should spell out need for judicial probe"

Jaipur: The former Foreign Minister and BJP leader, Jaswant Singh, on Wednesday accused the UPA Government of "twisting and ridiculing" the foreign policy in a bid to "protect" a political party named in the Volcker Committee report as a beneficiary of Iraqi oil pay-offs.

"On the one hand India is eagerly waiting to get a permanent seat in the U.N. Security Council, while on the other Congress announced that it would issue a legal notice and the UPA Government endorsed it," Mr. Singh told party workers here.

"Twisting the foreign policy in a bid to protect a political party makes it ridiculous... The image of the country suffers a dent in the world and the government does not have an answer," Mr. Singh said. — PTI
