KARIMNAGAR: In a strange incident, CPI (Maoist) Yellareddy Local Guerrilla Squad (LGS) deputy commander, Gasikanti Laxman alias Vinay, 25, died of ill-health recently in the forest due to the alleged failure of the party to provide him medical treatment. These startling revelations were made by the Maoists to Laxman's parents on Tuesday over telephone. The naxalites told the parents that they had performed their comrade's last rites in the forests of Banswada region of Nizamabad district. Thus family members did not even have last glimpse of their beloved one.
Rapid rise
Laxman joined the dalam 10 years ago as an ordinary militant and rose to the rank of deputy commander. He hailed from the Banda Lingapur village of Chandurthi mandal. His father Mysaiah wailed before mediapersons about the death of his son. In a press note here on Wednesday, Superintendent of Police Devender Singh Chauhan alleged that the Maoists had denied medical treatment to the naxalite as he was a dalit. He charged that the Maoists provide corporate medical treatment to upper caste leaders and top cadre and deny the same to militants of lower strata.
Fervent appeal
He appealed to naxalites, who are suffering in the jungles without medical treatment and suppression, to join the mainstream of society and assured them of complete medical treatment of their ailments and also rehabilitation package. He alleged that naxalites were attracting innocent rural youth into their fold and ruining their lives. He flayed naxalites for not even allowing the naxalite's parents to see the body. The naxalites conducted the funeral in the forest fearing people's wrath.
