Kalam puts off J&K visit

NEW DELHI:
President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam on Wednesday decided to put off his two-day visit beginning Thursday to the earthquake-affected areas of Jammu & Kashmir in view of the death of former President K. R. Narayanan. According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman, the visit will be rescheduled and fresh dates announced later.
Mr. Kalam was to visit Tangdhar on Thursday and Uri on Friday after a night's halt in Srinagar to see for himself the damage caused by the October 8 quake and the relief and rehabilitation work undertaken subsequently.
