Three bus passengers relieved of cash

HYDERABAD: Three bus passengers fell prey to pickpockets in the city on Tuesday. Automobile shop owner Venkatesh of Vijayawada came to the city for purchasing vehicle spare parts. He kept Rs. 65,000 in his trousers pocket and boarded route no. 8A bus at Secunderabad around noon.

Six persons unidentified persons - all in their late twenties - stood around him in the crowded bus and got down when it reached Bible House near Bansilalpet.

A few moments later, he checked the pocket and found that it was picked, the Gandhinagar police said. M. Kantaiah of Warangal district came to the city on some personal work. He got into a city bus at Sanathnagar. When the bus reached MJ Market, he found thieves had cut his trousers pocket and lifted Rs. 3,900, the Begumbazar police said.

K. Geetha, working as sweeper at Saifabad police station, approached the Bahadurpura police stating some persons had cut her blouse and stolen Rs. 14,500 while she was travelling in a city bus. She boarded the bus at Charminar to reach Kishanbagh. After getting down at Bahadurpura crossroads, she realised the amount was stolen.
