WARANGAL: Six senior leaders of the TDP -- T. Devender Goud, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Kadiam Srihari, Errabelli Dayakara Rao, Sana Maruthi and S. Venugopala Chary - who were arrested near the NTPC, Ramagundam, on Wednesday evening are likely to be granted bail and released. It may be recalled that Warangal district Collector Benhur Ekka and others had lodged a complaint with the police against the TDP leaders accusing them of obstructing, abusing and threatening officials on duty on Monday during their dharna in front of the Collectorate. Around 11.30 p.m., the leaders were produced before the Fourth Munsif Magistrate. Dr. Janardhan Reddy, former MPs B. Venkateswarlu and Chada Suresh Reddy were produced after midnight. Other leaders - Revuri Prakash Reddy, V. Narender Reddy, MLA, ZP Chairman S. Samma Rao, former Chairman A. Baswa Reddy and district general secretary K. Kishan Prasad -- who were arrested on Tuesday, were released on bail.
About 3,000 TDP workers gathered at the court and raised slogans against the Government and Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy as tension prevailed near the District Courts complex. The police had a tough time controlling the crowds. Police sources said that the TDP leaders were arrested in Godavarikhani town when they were returning from neighbouring Mancherial as part of their agitational programme against the alleged neglect of Telangana projects by the Sate Government.
