A chopper can cause flutters in a place like Malappuram. The brief landing of Indian Air Force (IAF)'s multi-role transport helicopter MI8 at Kottakunnu on Wednesday morning caused quite a flutter not only among the local residents but among the news corps as well. Rumours began to thicken as the bus-sized chopper took off within minutes after landing on the hilltop. Newsmen were all agog, wildly making calls - and guesses too. On Thursday, the papers carried quite a few versions of the chopper story. Some said it was a flight to attract people. Others said it was a routine inspection. Some others even linked it with terrorist activities in Malappuram. One or two papers mentioned that the Indian Air Force workhorse was on a mapping mission to identify possible landing spots across the State. It was interesting reading. Facts can have many facets, or at least the newspapers may lead us to think so.
