Letters to the Editor
The true tribute to the late President would be in trying to fulfil his progressive vision for the millions of the poor and deprived in India.
B. Mohan Reddy Mettu,
* * * Mr. Narayanan will always be remembered with respect. May we have more like him.
Madhu R.D. Singh,
* * * His Presidency will be remembered, among other things, for the two occasions when he returned recommendations of the Union Cabinet for imposition of President's Rule in Uttar Pradesh and in Bihar terming them inappropriate.
V. Krishnakumar,
* * * A great nationalist and statesman, Mr. Narayanan proved time and again that he was no rubber stamp.
V. Rajender Sarma,
* * * On August 31, 1997, Mr. Narayanan, then the President, replied to a letter of mine after correcting the date. He wrote: "Dear Friend, I thank you for your kind sentiments expressed on my assumption of office recently. K.R. Narayanan." I still have the letter.
K.S. Natarajan,
