Judith Miller
New York: Once a star reporter of The New York Times, Judith Miller is leaving the newspaper under an agreement reached with it, ending a 28-year-old career at the organisation where she wrote some award-winning stories. Executive Editor Bill Keller announced her departure to the staff of the paper in a memorandum on Wednesday. Ms. Miller (57) said in an interview with the paper that she was ``very satisfied'' with the agreement and described herself as a ``free woman,'' released from what she called the ``convent of The New York Times, a convent with its own theology and its own catechism.'' She said in the few hours since her departure had been made public, she had received several offers ``of all kinds'' for future employment, which she declined to specify. Ms. Miller went to jail for 85 days rather than to reveal her confidential source in the CIA leak case and was released only after she agreed to testify before the grand jury. PTI
