Bangalore: Vaclav Klaus, President of the Czech Republic, said his country will support India in its demand for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council. Addressing presspersons in his arrival here on Thursday, he said the structure of the council should be altered with the changing era. On the possible ties in the information technology sector between India and the Czech Republic, he said Infosys has a facility in his country with a manpower of 100, which is to be increased to 300 shortly. He said his business delegation will discuss possible tie-ups with other IT companies. On bilateral trade, he said there has been a significant growth in the past two years. He noted that the Czech Republic is strong in Defence, power and energy sectors, and said 100 plants in India used Czech technology. On Defence deals, he said his country supplied traditional hunting rifles. Dr. Klaus said his weeklong India visit is intended to present the Czech Republic as an economically strong and politically stable country. A 26-member delegation of Czech companies from various sectors, led by Stanislav Kazecky, vice-president, Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, will participate in a business cooperation seminar. Dr. Klaus will leave for Panaji on Friday. At the ISRO Satellite Centre, director of the centre K.N. Shankara briefed Mr. Klaus on the Indian space programme. Dr. Klaus lauded India's achievements under its space programme. The visiting dignitaries were taken around the centre, including the satellite integration laboratory, thermovac test chamber and the space exhibition. Indian Ambassador in Prague P.S. Raghavan and his wife Barbara Raghavan accompanied the dignitaries.

PTI adds: Mr. Klaus praised the achievements of Bangalore in the technology sector and expressed hope that more IT companies will set up shop in his country.
