A case to argue

NEW DELHI: The Association of Indian Diplomats, a society whose members are mostly retired Ambassadors and High Commissioners of India, has invited essays from the public on "India's Aspirations for a Permanent Membership in the United Nations Security Council".

To be eligible for the essay competition, a participant needs to have a Master's degree from any recognised university. The essay should be in English, typed in double space, and between 2,500 and 3,500 words. The participant has to send documentary evidence of his/her holding the requisite university degree, besides giving full information about his/her postal address, telephone number and contact particulars.

The entries should reach M.P.M. Menon, Secretary of the Association of Indian Diplomats, at A-46 IFS Apartments, Mayur Vihar Phase-I, Delhi-110091, on or before February 28, 2006. The winner of the essay will receive a cash prize of Rs.10,000. In adjudging the quality of the essays, consideration will be given to clarity of language, cogency of arguments and understanding of issues.
