Isolated rain in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at a few places over Lakshadweep. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Kerala.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over south interior Karnataka and dry weather prevailed over Telangana, Coastal and north interior Karnataka. Srivaikundam (Tuticorin dt.) recorded heavy rainfall of 9 cm.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Rajapalayam (Virudhunagar dt) 5, Sathankulam (Tuticorin dt) 4, Sankarankoil and Sivagiri (Both Tirunelveli dt) 3 each, Chengalpattu (Kanchipuram dt), Thozhudur (Cuddalore dt), Ulundurpet (Villupuram dt), Tiruvidaimarudur (Thanjavur dt) and Cheranmadevi (Tirunelveli dt) 2 each and Chidambaram, Kattumannarkoil, Panruti and Virudhachalam (all Cuddalore dt), Parangipettai, Cuddalore, Vanur (Villupuram dt), Pondicherry Airport, Sirkali and Mayiladuthurai (both Nagapattinam dt), Ayikudi (Tirunelveli dt), Palayamkottai, Pappireddipatti (Dharmapuri dt), Minicoy, CIAL Kochi, Tirupati Airport and Gudur (Nellore dt) 1 each.

The minimum temperature rose at one or two places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and fell at one or two place over coastal Tamil Nadu and changed little elsewhere over the region.

Medak recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 12{+o} Celsius in the plains of the region.

Forecast (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Telengana, Rayalaseema, Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.
