No evidence of abduction, say police

Diplomatic Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police have found no "evidence" that Roshan Ali, a Pakistani student at the National Institute of Information Technology (NIIT), was abducted on Tuesday at the time and place mentioned by Pakistani authorities.

A statement issued by the External Affairs Ministry said, "It has been conveyed to the Pakistan High Commission that the matter [alleged abduction] has been investigated by the police, which has discovered that the note in Hindi produced by Mr. Roshan Ali was written by his friend, a fellow student at NIIT, South Extension."

The police, the statement added, had concluded that the reported incident was probably a "prank."
