New NIT

NEW DELHI: Chhattisgarh will now have a National Institute of Technology (NIT) with the Union Cabinet on Thursday approving the takeover of Engineering College, Raipur. The hitherto State Government institute will now be a fully funded institution of the Centre with "Deemed to be University" status.

With an NIT in Chhattisgarh, the number of NITs in the country now goes up to 19. The conversion of Engineering College, Raipur, into an NIT, according to the HRD Ministry, will help it produce quality manpower.
