THIRUVANANTHAPURAM : The KPCC paid tributes to the former President K.R. Narayanan by organising an all-religion prayer meeting at the Indira Bhavan here on Thursday. The function got under way with the lighting of a lamp before the former President's picture by PCC chief Ramesh Chennithala. This was followed by prayers by a team comprising Neyyattinkara Vasudevan, K.P. Udayabhanu, K. Omanakutty, Kavalam Sreekumar, Bhavana Radhakrishnan, Adundhathi and B.Pushpa. Mon.C.Joseph, Chancellor of the Thiruvananthapruam Archdiocese, and Imam Mohammed Shafeek Moulavi also participated in the prayers. A.K. Antony and V.M. Sudheeran were among those who attended the function. The Hindu Nadar Samajam has condoled the demise of the former President. An emergency meeting of the central committee of the organisation held here on Thursday said that though he belonged to the backward sections, he rose to the highest position in the country through diligence and purposeful work. Though he was born in a remote village in Kerala, his name, fame and blemishless character came to be known throughout the country. His demise was an irreparable loss to the country. The meeting was chaired by the state president of the organisation, Punchakari Surendran.
