It's ITRC vs AOC Centre

HYDERABAD: Income Tax Recreation Club defeated State Bank of India 3-2 in the second semifinal of the Justice K.Madhava Reddy hockey tournament for seniors at Begumpet Police Stadium here on Thursday.

SBI took the lead in the seventh minute through Surender Singh and increased it with centre-forward Harinath Reddy finding the target. Just before the break, ITRC reduced the margin through Vijay Kumar, who was spot-on with a neat carpet drive from close range.

In the second session, the taxmen dominated and scored twice through Sekhar Babu and Raghuram Babu to seal rival's fate. ITRC will take on AOC Centre in the final on Friday.

Bangalore wins title

Bangalore defeated Mysore 25-11, 25-16, 25-20 in the final of the 21st LIC South-Central zonal-level volleyball tournament in Hyderabad on Thursday.

Other results: 3rd place: Udipi bt Warangal 22-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-20; semifinals: Bangalore bt Warangal 25-13, 25-19, 25-12; Mysore bt Udipi 25-21, 25-18, 25-23.

Ramyakrishna wins

I. Ramyakrishna outwitted D.V. Krishna in the third round to share the lead with nine others in the 13th annual Hyderabad YMCA Tatipalli Gopalakrishna prize money chess tournament on Thursday.

Mukkaram wins

Taj Mukkaram won the singles title defeating Alok Dubey 15-3, 15-2 in the final of the Powergrid Inter-region badminton tournament in Hyderabad on Thursday. Arun Shukla beat Rajesh 15-6, 8-13 (conceded) to finish third.

AFC delegation

A three-member delegation from Asian Football Confederation will inspect the facilities in the twin cities as part of their visit to Chennai and Bangalore to identify the venue for the next year's Asian under-20 football championship.

The panel will be assisted by a senior official deputed by All India Football Federation president Priya Ranjan Das Munshi to make an objective assessment of Hyderabad as one of the possible venues. It is expected to inspect the Gachibowli main stadium and Goshamahal Stadium on Friday.
