Heavy rain in catchment areas of Sabarigiri

Staff Reporter

PATHANAMTHITTA: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is likely to open the shutters of the Moozhiyar dam of the Kakkad hydroelectric project on Thursday night following heavy inflow from the catchments, according to Board sources in Moozhiyar.

The sources said the storage level in the Moozhiyar dam reached 190 metres at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

This is 2.63 metres short of the full reservoir level of 192.63 metres.

The catchments of the Sabarigiri and Kakkad hydroelectric projects have been witnessing heavy rain for the past one week, the sources said.
