Annual Qutub festival cancelled

NEW DELHI: Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation has cancelled the annual Qutub Festival due to be held here from November 11 to 13 in view of the death of former President K.R.Narayanan.

A DTTDC spokesman said the festival would now be organised at a later date.

Evening Raga concert called off

NEW DELHI: Due to the demise of former President K.R. Narayanan, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to cancel its music concert as part of the Evening Ragas series at Nehru Park here this Saturday.

The concert featuring Hindustani classical vocalist Girija Devi and tabla maestro Pandit Kishan Maharaj has been called off in view of seven days' national mourning for Mr. Narayanan.

Media stars to train sting operators

NEW DELHI: Eminent media personalities including NDTV head Prannoy Roy, the brain behind "Kaun Banega Crorepati" Sidharth Basu and Satinder Bindra of CNN have come together to train the first batch of sting operators at Pratyaksh Media Academy headed by Manoj Raghuvanshi.

The institute provides a formal three-month training course in sting operations with a hidden camera to its students and also a regular one-month course in TV anchoring, news reading, radio jockeying and voicing. Another month-long course in effective speaking for students, businessmen and professionals is also part of the training.

According to Mr. Raghuvanshi, "the students are being trained here to become black cat commandos of the Indian television industry -- specialists in the art of expose".

New ATM centre inaugurated

NEW DELHI: The Federal Bank opened its 284th ATM centre at Anand Niketan here on Thursday. It was inaugurated by V. K. Williams of Mount Carmel School, Anand Niketan, at a ceremony presided over by the Deputy General Manager of the bank, George Varghese.

The Assistant General Manager, V. M. Unnikrishnan, welcomed the guests and Chief Manager Jose. V. Joseph proposed the vote of thanks.

Special train for Jammu Tawi

NEW DELHI: Northern Railway is running a special train (No.403/404) daily between New Delhi and Jammu Tawi from Thursday to November 21 to clear the heavy rush of passengers.

The 403 New Delhi-Jammu Tawi special train will depart from Delhi at 9-30 p.m. to reach its destination at 7 a.m. the next day, while the 404 Jammu Tawi-New Delhi special train will depart at 7-45 p.m. and reach Delhi at 6-45 a.m. the next day.
