Children's film society to have its own building
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD:
Children's Film Society will have its own building in the city soon, said Nafeesa Ali Sodhi, Chairperson of Children's Film Society of India (CFSI).
Speaking to the media on Thursday, she said the long-pending project would be taken up during her tenure. "I am committed to this project," she said.
In the city to promote the International Children's Film Festival of India that begins on November 14, she said her meeting with the Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy regarding the project was fruitful. The society already has a 10-acre land in the Film Nagar area in Jubliee Hills, where the building would come up.
Apart from a centre where children can watch films, "We can create a structure where they can be involved in making films," she said.
She suggested that State Governments be encouraged to make children's films `tax free' and TV channels show at least one children's film a week.
In the backdrop of State mourning for former President K.R. Nayayanan, she said the festival would be carried out in a dignified manner shorn of all entertainment.
