Women's college plans to introduce new courses

Foundation stone laid for new complex

HYDERABAD : The Raja Bahadur Venkat Rama Reddy Women's College, Barkathpura, will soon have a new complex for which foundation was laid on Thursday.

The college as part of its golden jubilee celebrations has proposed to introduce new courses in pharmacy, fashion technology and nutrition to provide better job opportunities and construct a multi-storeyed building.

The foundation stone was laid by an NRI, N. Damodar Reddy, Chairman and CEO of Semialliance Conductors, USA.

While Mr. Damodar Reddy pledged to donate a matching grant of Rs.50 lakhs and another additional Rs.25 lakhs for construction of the building, the management with the help of alumni, well-wishers and philanthropists had mobilised Rs.50 lakhs.

College secretary Narasimha Reddy said that the new complex with an area of 40,000 sft was estimated to cost Rs.1.5 crores.

The management was thankful to Mr. Damodar Reddy for his gesture, he said.
