NEW DELHI: Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone, the alleged Hizb-ul-Mujahideen militant who was rounded up by the 12 Rashtriya Rifles in the Banihal area of Doda in Jammu on suspicion of his involvement in the blast at Paharganj here on October 29, was taken to Rajasthan on Thursday for corroboration of his purported disclosures. At a press conference, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Karnal Singh, said Mohiuddin was taken to various places in the capital to check the veracity of his statement in which he had claimed that he was involved in the Paharganj blast. After that, he was taken to Rajasthan to identify the places where he, according to his disclosure, stayed after fleeing from Delhi after planting the bomb in the Paharganj main bazaar. Refusing to disclose whether Mohiuddin had identified the spots correctly, Mr. Singh said: "There are several inconsistencies in his disclosures that are being examined before we reach any conclusion." He said Mohiuddin was arrested by the Jammu police in connection with a murder case. Mr. Singh refused to comment on the statement of the Jammu police that he was nothing but a "petty thief", saying that the Delhi police were concentrating on their line of investigation. "Like him, several people are being brought here from other States for interrogation in connection with the blasts, but we have not got anything concrete from them so far. We are working vigorously on certain clues to the cases," said Mr. Singh.
