Mohiuddin not involved in Delhi blasts, say police

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Special Cell of the Delhi police on Friday confirmed that Ghulam Mohiuddin Lone, the youth who was arrested and brought to the capital by the Jammu police two days ago, was not involved in the October 29 serial blasts in Delhi.

He has been taken back to Jammu.

Stating that the police had definite leads to the blasts cases, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said Mohiuddin was interrogated at length and was also taken to various places, including Jodhpur in Rajasthan to identify the locations as per his disclosure to 12 Rashtriya Rifles, which had arrested him in the Banihal area of Doda in Jammu last Sunday.

"We found several inconsistencies in his statement, establishing that he was not involved in the blasts," said Mr. Singh.

However, he said the Special Cell had gathered concrete information on the identities of the blasts' suspects and added that investigations were going in the right direction.
