ERODE: Canara Bank has decided to advance Rs. 400 crores for the agricultural sector this year. Of the amount, Rs. 300 crores has been advanced till date, said Assistant General Manager S.V. Krishnamurthy at Vellottamparappu near Sivagiri on Friday. He was inaugurating a training programme for women self-help groups (SHGs).
Weaving park
Mr. Krishnamurthy said that it was decided to advance Rs. 65 crores to the Powerloom Weaving Park at Komarapalayam. The bank had advanced Rs. 10 crores to 10,089 SHGs this year and it was also decided to grant Rs. 12 crores more to them. Regarding tractor loan, he said that it was decided to provide 500 tractor loans and so far 300 were given and the remaining would be distributed before January. For small-scale industries also, the bank was advancing necessary loans.
Inaugurated
The Assistant General Manager inaugurated a Siddha medical camp arranged by the Nadupalayam branch of Canara Bank. District Manager Palanivelu, Vellottamparappu Special Grade Panchayat president Senthilkumar and All Traders Association president Shanmugam also spoke.
