SHRAVANABELAGOLA: To recognise the contribution made by women to society, the Mahamastakabhisheka Committee will hold a three-day National Jain Women's Convention from November 18 at Shravanabelagola, Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji has said. Speaking to presspersons here on Saturday, he said Hemavathi Heggade of Srikshetra Dharmasthala will inaugurate the convention on November 18th, and Neelam Jain, editor of Jain Mahiladarsh, will preside over the function. Bhavani Revanna will be the chief guest. Pushpa Varma Jain of Kerala will inaugurate cultural meet in the evening, he detailed. Sudha Jain of Kolkota will preside over a seminar on "Contribution of Jain women to Indian culture" on November 19. Koushalya Patangya, Padmaja Patil, Sucheta Desai, Rubi Jain, and Sushila Patni will present papers. Manju Ajmera will preside over another seminar on "Social problems confronted by women" where Mayura Shaha, Ashoka Jain, Reetha Jain, Shantha Sanmathikumar, and Molina Vacharia will present papers. Sunita Jain will preside over an interactive session and Anju Jain, Komala Brahmadevaiah, Chandrika Manjunath, Sulai Mallayya and Vimala Jain will speak on journalism, social service, politics and art, the swamiji said. He also said Rathnamma Heggade of Dharmasthala, Indu Jain of Times of India; Sudha Murthy of Infosys; Indumathi Avade, an industrialist from Eechalakaranji; Sarayu Vidooshi, an artist from Mumbai; Margaret Alva, former Union Minister; Padmavathamma, Department of Mathematics, University of Mysore; Sandhya Pai, Managing Editor, Taranga; Sandhya Reddy, president, Karnataka Lekhkhiyara Sangha; Saalumarada Thimmakka, noted writer; Sharada Jain, Director, Sandhan; Trishala Jain, poet; Bhanu Mushtaq, G.S. Rudrani Shivarudrappa, Sunira Kaslival, and Asha Vinayak, will be conferred "Sadhana Award". "Vishishta Seva Prashasti" will be given to organisations, which are serving the public cause, including Sri Digambara Jain Aadarsha Mahila Mahavidyalaya Samiti of Rajasthan, Sri Digamabara Jain Udaseena Shravikashrama of Madhya Pradesh, Kshullika Rajulmathi Digamabara Jain Shravikashrama of Maharashtra, Sri Jain Bala Vishrama of Bihar, Digamabara Jain Mahilashrama of New Delhi, and Sri Chakreshwari Mahila Samaja of Karnataka. The "Prathibha Puraskar" will be given Uma Garg of Delhi (music), Prachi Shah of Mumbai (dance), Veena Ajmera of Rajasthan (folk arts), Kusum Shah of Udayapur (music), Nikhita Rajendran of Mysore (sports), Garima Jain of Indore (dance), T.L. Kusuma Prasad of Tumkur (music), and Padmarekha Jergi of Kolhapur (medicine), the swamiji said. Sudha Surendra Jain will preside over the valedictory function and former Union Minister Girija Vyas will deliver the valedictory address, he added.
