Modern School, Barakhamba has it easy

NEW DELHI: Former champion Modern School, Barakhamba Road, found a quick entry to the final as it did not have to complete its semifinal against Delhi United Christian School in the 19th Jatin Bedi memorial inter-school football tournament at the St. Stephen's College ground here on Saturday.

Modern School led 1-0 after 30 minutes of play, thanks to the goal by Benjamin Duke.

When it found that the opponents had fielded a player whose name had not been registered it protested. The tournament committee heard the protest and promptly awarded the match to Modern School.

In the other semifinal, Par Aung shot the ball home off a rebound from close in the 20th minute in clinching the match-winner for defending champion Government Boys Senior Secondary School, Moti Bagh, in its 1-0 triumph over Mann Public School.
