Coimbatore: The Coimbatore City Police arrested two persons including the vice-president of Charitable Trust for Minorities (CTM) on charges of possessing money at the Central prison. It is learnt that Abudaheer (24) of Nawab Hakkim (NH) Road and Jabarullah (29) of Azad Nagar in Karumbukkadai turned up at the prison on Friday to meet Mohammed Ansari (an undertrial in the Coimbatore serial blasts case), the leader of the Al-Umma, the banned outfit. When the two were returning after meeting the prisoner, the jail authorities frisked the bag purportedly handed over by the undertrial. The duo claimed that it was all dirty clothes handed over to them by Ansari for washing. However, the prison and the police officials found Rs. 36,000 in shirt pockets. Both were handed over to the Race Course Police by the prison authorities. They were remanded to judicial custody and lodged at the Salem Central Prison.
