This Day That Age
Congress circles in New Delhi regard the merger of Telengana with Andhra at the beginning of reorganisation of States as certain, following about three hours' talks between the Congress delegations from the two regions and the party High Command. The High Command has reiterated its opinion that the formation of Visalandhra, by the merger of Telengana, Telugu-speaking area of Hyderabad State, with Andhra is desirable. A formal decision on the question may emerge from a meeting of the Congress leaders of Andhra and Telengana to be held at Kurnool on November 23. The two delegations first met the Congress President, Mr. U.N. Dhebar, Pandit Pant and Maulana Azad for two hours and then had talks with Prime Minister Nehru separately for about an hour.
