This Day That Age
The South Indian Artistes' Association honoured Mr. N.S. Krishnan, the popular comedian of the Tamil stage and screen, by presenting him a gold lace cloth, at a well-attended function held at the R.R. Sabha Hall, Mylapore, Madras, on November 13. Mr. T.V. Sundaram, president of the Association, welcomed the gathering. Mr. P. Sambanda Mudaliar, well-known playwright, placed the gold lace cloth around the shoulders of Mr. N.S. Krishnan. He said he had known Mr. Krishnan from his boyhood. He stood foremost among those who contributed the element of humour in the contemporary Tamil stage. Mr. M.R. Radha presented 26 gold coins to the comedian and said that the honour which they were conferring on him should go in an equal measure to Smt. T.A. Mathuram. Mr. M.K. Thyagaraja Bhagavathar presented a gold lace shawl to Smt. T.A. Mathuram. On behalf of Jupiter Pictures a sum of Rs. 102 was presented to Mr. Krishnan to signify the number of films in which he had acted so far. Replying to the felicitations, Mr. Krishnan said that by honouring an artiste they were honouring dramatic and histrionic talent.
