Erode: Panchayat officials have evicted encroachers from a tank bed in Veppampalayam. The Pichandampalayam Panchayat in Erode taluk issued an eviction notice to those who had encroached upon the five-acre water tank in Veppampalayam. While some persons left the place, one tiled house and cattle pound remained on the tank bed. With police protection, panchayat officials demolished the house and cattle pound on Tuesday.
