Rathasangamom at Kalpathy

RELIGIOUS FERVOUR: The temple cars with the deities of Old Kalpathy and Chathapuram Temples go on Grama Pradakshinam on Tuesday.

PALAKKAD: The famous Rathasangamom of Kalpathy Car Festival took place here on Tuesday night with the temple cars of all the four temples of Kalpathy Agraharams converging in front of the Kalpathy Viswanatha Swamy Temple.

Thousands of people from different parts of the country and abroad witnessed the event.

After the three-day-long journey through the Agraharams of Old Kalpathy, New Kalpathy and Chathapuram all the Rathams (cars) returned to their bases by evening on Tuesday.

In the morning, the deities of Old Kalpathy Temple and Chathapuram Temple mounted on the

Rathams went on Grama Pradakshinam.

By midnight, after Abhishekam the deities will be redecorated and taken out in floral palanquins. They will return to the temple at dawn, marking the end of the two-week-long festival.
