BELGAUM: The Belgaum City Corporation and people from different walks of life paid rich tributes to corporator Satish Chavhan of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samithi, who died of cardiac arrest here on Saturday. In a rare expression of condolence, Mayor Vijay P. More convened a special meeting at the council hall on Tuesday. Besides inviting members of the council, the Mayor also invited people to join the corporation in expressing its tributes to the departed soul. The council hall was swelling with people and everybody described the late Chavhan as a good human being, a good friend and a responsible people's representative who toiled to ensure better civic amenities to people. Those who spoke on the occasion included Mr. More, Deputy Mayor Prakash Shirolkar, MES MLAs Digamber Rao Patil and Manohar Kinekar, former Mayors Sambhaji Patil and Shivaji Sunthakar, former Deputy Mayors Sunil Kudachi and Satish Gorgonda, Shiva Sena leader and corporator Gajan Patil, Belgaum District Marathi Newspapers' Association president D.K. Patil and journalist M.L. Ustad.
