Letters to the Editor
Salman Rushdie's article, `An earthquake tests Kashmir, and the world,' (Nov. 15) has made a compact assessment of the situation in the State after the October 8 disaster . However, despite the enormity of the suffering visited on the people of both India and Pakistan, the two countries have not come as close as expected. We can only hope that the future will bind us together to face not only terrorism but also natural calamities.
Ashok Tiwari,
* * * The five points now being opened along the Line of Control in Kashmir to facilitate the movement of relief material for the quake-affected in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir should be made permanent. This will help people on either side exchange their wares and views for mutual benefit.
K. Hanumanthu,
